Quick and Easy Deep Cleans For Your Home

Whether you just moved into a new home or are getting ready to sell your Colorado Springs home, there’s nothing more satisfying than giving your home a nice deep clean. Let’s face it, who really has the time to deep clean your home from top to bottom? The Platinum Group, REALTORS know how important time is and the last thing some people will want to do is spend their free time cleaning their house. Well, you’re in luck. The best real estate agents in Colorado Springs have a list of deep cleans you can do that don’t require the whole day.

Clean Your Cabinets

Whether they are in the kitchen or a bathroom, cabinets go through a lot and rarely get cleaned. You don’t really notice the gunk build up on cabinets, but how often do you wipe down your cabinet drawers or doors? If your cabinets could use some love, you can create a light scrub with ½ cup of vegetable oil and one cup of baking soda. Wipe away the mixture with a damp cloth.

Tackle the Microwave

Let’s face it, the microwave is an appliance we use almost every day and there’s bound to be some sort of food particles that line the inside. If you aren’t constantly wiping down the inside of your microwave, there’s a good chance those food and liquid particles are getting caked on every time you use the microwave. To loosen the mess, you can combine one cup of water with a splash of vinegar, add a couple drop of vanilla extract and two tablespoons of lemon juice. Place the mixture in a microwave-safe dish and then into the microwave. Heat the mixture on high for one minute. Let it sit for a few minutes before opening the microwave. Use a damp cloth to wipe out the microwave.

Clean Your Dishwasher

Your dishwasher is known for cleaning your dishes, but have you cleaned or deodorized your dishwasher recently? To clean your dishwasher, you should start by removing and cleaning the filter by soaking it in warm, soapy water for 10 – 15 minutes. Rinse the filter then replace it. Pour one cup of white vinegar into the dispense of an empty dishwasher and then run a heavy cycle. If you want to take it up a notch, sprinkle one cup of baking soda in the bottom of the dishwasher and let it sit overnight. The next morning, run an empty cycle and then scrub any remaining debris with a toothbrush.

Don’t Forget Your Washing Machine

The washer is similar to your dishwasher. You wash your clothes in this machine, but is the washer actually clean? If you want to disinfect your washing machine, white vinegar is a great option. White vinegar will help eliminate mold and mildew and any odors they cause. If the white vinegar doesn’t do the trick, you can run a wash cycle with bleach.

Give Your Mattress Some Attention

We spend a lot of time in our beds and we know how important it is to keep our beds clean. While we wash our sheets and our bedding frequently, how often do you clean your mattress? You can clean your mattress by first vacuuming it. Then sprinkle a mixture of baking soda and a few drops of lavender essential oil on top of the mattress. Let that mixture sit for a few hours and then vacuum that mixture away. It’s also a good idea to wash your bedding the same day you freshen your mattress.
