RON allows you to sign and notarize closing documents securely online—whether you’re at home, traveling, or simply unable to make it to the closing table.
How Does RON Work?
Instead of meeting with a notary in person, you’ll connect with a commissioned online notary through a secure video session. The notary will verify your identity, witness you electronically sign your documents, and complete the notarization online.
What Will You Need?
A little preparation can make the process quick and easy. You’ll typically need:
- A valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID
- A computer or compatible device with a camera and microphone
- A strong, reliable internet connection
- Access to your email
- A quiet, well-lit place to complete your signing
Verifying Your Identity
Because you aren’t meeting with the notary face-to-face, identity verification is an important part of the process.
Depending on the platform, you may be asked to scan your ID, take a live photo, and answer Knowledge-Based Authentication (KBA) questions based on information from your personal or credit history.
Once your identity is verified, you’ll connect with the online notary and complete your signing.
